This mixed-media painting captures a small Chinese takeout restaurant located in a basement cafeteria in Chicago's Chinatown. The painting incorporates found objects, including a takeout plastic bag and Allen wrenches, which symbolize the industrious spirit of immigrant life. Pieces of wallpaper evoke a sense of permanence, while fabric printed with Chinese calligraphy and symbols serve as a reminder of history and culture. The use of unusual materials is meant to push the boundaries of traditional painting but also serves as an exploration of the narrative surrounding the immigrant experience within Chicago’s urban landscape.
Limited edition of 50 giclée prints.
